FleetNet America employees took part in a friendly competition with some Gaston County fifth-graders to raise money for local teachers.
The company sponsored a team at the February 2018 “Are You Smarter Than A Gaston County Fifth-Grader?” competition.
Each team included local fifth-graders and professionals from local businesses. Over three rounds of competition in a game-show format, 15 teams answered elementary-level questions in several subjects.
FleetNet sponsored W.B. Beam Intermediate School in Cherryville, N.C., and its team was the Millennium Falcons. Employees who participated were Emily Hurst, financial cost analyst; Jeremy Mikel, director, Financial Planning & Analysis; Misty Bryant, manager, Billing & Accounts Payable; and Gene Anderson, director, Business Intelligence.
The annual competition serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit Gaston County Education Foundation to provide grants to Gaston County teachers for innovative classroom initiatives.
